A long but straightforward walk, on a pleasant spring day. We started from the Linn of Dee and walked west for 5km to reach White Bridge, here we left the main track and went past the waterfalls at the Chest of Dee, heading NW along the Dee to the Southern end of the Larig Ghru. After 3 kms we cut up NE onto the shoulder of Sgor Mor, across rough heather and bogs, then up rocky slabs to the summit. Here we had superb views of Ben Macdui, the 2nd highest in the UK and other 4000ft Cairngorm mountains. To the south Beinn a Ghlo stands out prominently. From the summit we headed ENE for 3km along the broad ridge to Sgor Dubh 741m with superb Cairngorm massif views all of the way. From here we headed SE and S down a long broad ridge, to eventually pick up the outward track back to the Linn of Dee.
