Albany ADK trip led by Don Berens.
Mostly bushwhacking up, decided to also bushwhack down, but we encountered some impossible ledges which required climbing steeply back up and finding another way down.
It was dark and snowing when we finally reached Rt. 73. We waited for drivers to hike back to cars on 9. It took a long time because one car wouldn't start.
I was using instep crampons for practically the first time and I slid 20 or 30 feet down the mountain before jamming my feet against a rock. Everyone told me that they expected to be carrying me out and aborting the trip, so they were relieved that I wasn't even hurt. The experience taught me how to use my crampons and also that I was slower than most other ADK hikers. Don and other climbers were so good to me. My favorite part of the day was posing on Rocky Peak's summit, braced on both sides by a couple of the guys to keep me from being blown off the top!
