An intended 3 day circular route up Rockeries Pass and down Mweni Pass, overnighting in Sunshine Cave and Mponjwana Cave.
A massive rain storm hit us during the evening while at the Mponjwana Cave, as a result the rivers swelled and were impassable. We decided to descend Rockeries Pass again as it's a smaller catchment, however multiple attempts to cross the river proved futile. Jess was sick so we set up the tent so she could dry off and rest. Finally before evening we were able to find a way to cross the river at the point where a tributary fans out to meet the main raging river.
A magical place to hike in general. Just be aware of this risk in the summer rainy season.
