With 4 other members of an HF party staying at Pontresina and guides Christian and Fluori Cox. After an overnight at Chamanna da Tschierva we left at 4.30am and walked up the path behind the hut (general direction NE) with a few bits of rock. We went across Vadrettin da Tschierva, roping up half way. Apparently one member of an unroped party had recently fallen here. We went up the ridge and across the NE face of Piz Morteratsch to a crevasse where the guide of the party in front had just fallen through a snow bridge, but not into the crevasse. He injured a leg, but continued. Steps were cut and the crevasse crossed. We went up a steepening snow slope to the summit of Piz Morteratsch, arriving there at 8.30am. On the descent the crevasse was avoided by a traverse SE and back. We went down the ridge to the Fuorcla da Boval and descended to Chamanna da Boval via easy rock and then to Morteratsch station.
