Central Luzon mountains highlights

"We started out at four in the morning, trudging up in the darkness at a relatively easy pace. The mountain was simple but very satisfying, with a diverse range in its flora. Near the peak the trail changed into tree-less paths that make the hike unbearable when done when the sun is at its highest. It becomes unreadable as the grassland comes uo high enough to pass over our heads. We were rewarded with wide views of the plains and farms surrounding the area. It's a good warm up hike that may lead to the other possible trails in the province. " - Mount Sawi, Jio, Aug 19, 2017
"We had strong winds and heavy rain at around one in the morning. Good thing out pegs held up. The local dog even waited the storm out just outside our vestibule. It was a relatively easy hIke, although on the way down the trail was almost non existent. The rain and hiker traffic made the trail extremely slippery. The waterfalls at the end was very refreshing though, making the travers very worthwhile." - Mount 387, Jio, Aug 19, 2017
"It was an overnight camping along with our two local guides, sir Apol and sir Rakki. We set up our camp on what they called the lover's tree. From jump-off point, it was a non stop assault along a forest and grassy trail yet the difficulty is manageable. A fascinating view of the "chocolate hills of the north" can be seen on the summit. From the campsite, we did a traverse down to Aloha falls. The trail is much steeper and there is a part where we had to slide down the cogon grass. A challenging trail down follows. The intense heat during summer may post as a challenge especially to the beginn" - Mount 387, frankoie, May 13, 2017
"UPM Batch Tagtag Induction climb Mt. Tapulao traverse from Mayantoc, Tarlac to Palauig, Zambales February 4-6, 2017 three-day climb eleven river crossings and 10 summits including Mt. Tapulao summit" - Mount Tapulao, MJGPresto, Feb 5, 2017
"Reached the summit last April 3, 2016 as part of our Cawag Cinco dayhike along with Mt. Balingkilat, Mt. Bira-bira, Mt. Naulaw and Cinco Picos. There are too many false peaks, trail resembles like that of Akiki (Mt. Pulag) except that it's open all throughout. Summit offer scenic views of Silanguin Cove and nearby mountain ranges. Climbing this is a test of endurance and patience as you have to endure long assault under the scorching heat of the sun. " - Rounded Peak, mercycaba, Apr 3, 2016
