Quite a day out there. Tried to hike to Peak 9 via the trail marked on forest service maps, but it essentially did not exist past the saddle exit from Wheeler Trail, so I had to cut across tundra to the ridgeline and rock-hop along the ridge to the summit. Encountered some surprising class-3 downclimb moves between the northern minor summit and the true summit, but those were fun enough even with skis on my back. After a long rest, skied down a surprisingly fun snow patch in the Peak 9 bowl, then hiked about a quarter mile east to ski a surprisingly filled-in gully that brought me straight back down to the trail.
