Drove across to Ballarat and Ararat and made my way south and west to Mafeking Road and then Jimmy Creek Road. I then took an unnamed track to the SW to find a spot to park. Walked up an old track not marked on the current maps and made my way to summit of Peak 599 m. I then returned back along the ridge line to the west until I was inside the boundary of the Grampians National Park and also in the summit Activation Zone. I set up the radio gear and activated VK3/VS-032 and the National Park, making 5 contacts before the rain started and I quickly packed up and retreated to the car.
Drove back to Jimmy Creek Road and headed west and south, making my way to Mount Dundas. Drove to the top to park and walked to the very top. Set up the radio gear nearby to activate VK3/VS-045, making 8 contacts. More rain arrived, so I packed up and headed to Penola for the night.
