2.16.19 ...5 peak, 12.3 mile, 3,700’ gain Traverse. Kasie and I Devour the Ireteba Ridge. I was feeling sorry for myself and deciding what to do to avoid a race I was signed up for (and didn’t really care about) when my friend Kasie texted me. She was craving the mountains and her friendship was just what I needed....7 miles of rough ridge and 5+ more of rough terrain along the foothills to return to her truck. 7:52hrs of sustained hard effort scrambling and bouldering (including some down time of shenanigans and snacks)... Thanks Harlan for bringing this Range to my attention. (I didn’t use the stashed Gatorade)
Thank you Kasie for one of the best Buddie Summit memories of my life. You are a sweet friend and I’m lucky to have you in my life. Love you to pieces...Peak”Bragger” (Harlan’s nick name) has the wilderness HP listed wrong, so most folks never even go to the actual HP 5,072’ (beyond and North of the BM.) it’s not even listed.
We Bagged Bard peak, Ireteba BM 5,052’, Ireteba Range HP 5,072’, 5,030’ & North Ireteba Peak 4,892’. There was one more lower lump but we had a long hard trek back to the her truck so we dropped down after 4,892’ as to not run out of time. It felt like a 5,000’ gain day. I almost think gps is underestimating the gain.
