I drove out Echo Wash Trail (recently bladed & in very good shape) & parked near a wash that leads south toward the peaks. I followed it up & chose a canyon I hadn't been in yet & followed it to the top of the ridge. I followed the ridge toward NW Cathedral & eventually dropped into another wash/gully that I followed all the way to the summit. I descended the same gully (very good shape with lots of solid rock) & regained the ridge. From there, I headed to Peak 2343. That one is a nice little hill & was covered in purple phacelia. The bump to the east is actually taller than the numbered bump, but I visited both. From there, I descended another canyon I had never been in & at the bottom discovered fields of poppies. Their scent filled the air. It was magical. The whole day was wonderful, with perfect weather & gorgeous scenery. I camped in Echo Wash that night & made some sketches. I've spent a lot of time in this area this spring & am ashamed I wrote it off for so many years thinking it wouldn't be that nice.
