From the visitors center in Chilao, I picked up the nature trail. At a point where the trail passed under the peak, I left the trail and went x-country through the brush. Shortly before reaching the top, I intersected a firebreak. The firebreak was a much easier way to the summit. After taking summit photos, I followed the firebreak all the way back down to the east end of the parking lot, forming a short semi loop hike.
