After attending Fell and Rockclimbing Club dinner at Shap Wells Hotel the day before. Solo. Began at the start of the path to Hartfell Spa. Walked along the path marked by posts, signposted as public right of way to Hartfell Spa. I climbed up the ravine beyond – rough and loose with steep sides. I ascended by Arthur’s Seat to fence on summit plateau of Hart Fell. I followed the fence to the summit – trig point enclosed by cairn/shelter. I went to the top above Falcon Crag, the top above Nether Combe Craig. There is a small cairn near a steep drop to the north. Returned over Swatte Fell. There is a cairn close to the west side of a stone dyke. Note added 2016: Reference to DBIH indicates the cairn is not the highest point.
