Needles Eye Mountain in Hot Spring County, Arkansas is now under the ownership of the Ross Foundation, a group concerned with timber and land management. Through mutual agreement, most of the area around the mountain is now managed by the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission. This mountain is now in a designated walk-in-only area of the Jack Mountain Wildlife Management Area, and an annual permit is required to hunt or hike in this WMA. No horses or motorized vehicles are allowed in the area around Needles Eye. There are no designated trails to the peak of Needles-Eye Mountain. This mountain is part of a range of mountains in Hot Spring and Garland county known as the "Trap Mountains", which are a part of the southern region of the Ouachita Mountains in Arkansas. The terrain is quite rocky and hilly, and black-bear are known to live in this area, and prefer this type habitat. My photos show the rocky mountain-side as I was descending, and a view from the top looking South towards Lake Degray State Park.

Went up on Needle's Eye many years ago with my cousins and friends. How far did you hike to the peak after parking in which area? There is also an old Nickel Mine up in the mountains somewhere. Did you find it?
