We parked off of Northshore Road and hiked up the wash until we got to a sidewash that headed towards the SE ridge of Mud Crag, then made our way up there. Rich & Justine turned back from there, while the rest of us made our way across the valley to Mud Hill. The route up to Mud Hill was fun, but everything after that kinda sucked. The route we took down from Mud Hill was steep & loose. Our original goal was to try to go up the NE face of Mud Tower, but looking at it from Mud Hill didn't look so good. We got a bit closer and that didn't improve, so we went around towards the SE side, where we found something doable. Instead of hiking all the way back around, we took a more direct route back, but that also included more elevation gain, since we had to hike up and over several gullies and hills. The weather was nice, as was the company.
