Cole and I raced up Mt. Tallac from our wilderness camping site at Lake Aloha in the Desolation Wilderness during a 4 day backpack trip with the Barrows Family. We were racing Doug, Cathie and Lindsey who were climbing Pyramid Peak and we smashed their time and had hours to then jump in the lake after our hike. Left at 9:30, summited around 1:15 and returned to camp at 4:30. The Barrows didn't make it back to camp until 8:30. That my friends is the advantage of summiting a mountain with a trail. Pyramid for those who have done it from Lake Aloha is a hellish route finding scramble.
