While collecting data and photos for our new website, www.wrightwoodca.com, Jacob Karp and I started at Guffy Campground and traveled across the North Backbone Trail, over Pine Mountain and Dawson Peak, to Mt. Baldy (San Antonio). There was snow on the ridge of baldy, but it wasn't icy. After summitting, we went back to the saddle between Dawson and Pine, then took the Dawson Peak Trail down toward Fish Fork and worked our way back over to Lupine Campground. At the end of the day we had to hike up the dirt road to get back up to the top of Blue Ridge to our car at Guffy because the road wasn't cleared yet for the season. The whole trip was almost 20 miles and we felt dead at the end. This one was all about endurance, but even after sleeping right, eating right, and drinking right, we still barely had the energy to complete the trip.
