Class 2 terrain ("easy/easier moderate scrambling"). I missed the Kane chimney and walked up to the summit on a decent trail, no scrambling, some exposure. On the way back, I found a narrow dully further west of Kane chimney, "easier moderate scrambling". Mt. Murray has at least 3 routes to the top, all fairly easy.
A distinct trail from the top of Cegnfs to Murray makes it a more pleasant route than many people describe. The same goes for the descent trail that bypasses Cegnfs. But I found the scree on the way to Cegnfs very loose and frustrating. A better way to do Murray-Cegnfs is probably in the counter-clockwise direction.
routefinding, bushwhacking, blowdowns, no water source, rockfall/loose rock
