Went up via the safety creek route. Tracks pretty rough in places but easy to follow in general. Great views on the tops and plenty of animals and birds around. Unfortunately the goat numbers are getting away since DOC stopped controlling the population several years ago.

Great spot with a nice ridgeline when heading to the summit. I've seen plenty of chamois during my two trips to Mt Elliot.

I saw 8 adult chamois and a few kids on this trip and a big fat velvet stag in the bush. There were about 8 goats on the the eastern faces of Elliot as well.
