Great hike and scramble up to this exctinct volcano. Its historical significance and beauty are well known in Sardinia. A canonized Saint, Frà Nazareno from Pula, and another famous prelate, Frà Lorenzo from Sardara, used to live up on this mountain for months in hermitage up to the 1990s, the rests of their humble refuge still there. The volcanic nature of this peak is visible from the bizarre shapes of its stones and from its remarkable sudden relief from the surrounding terrain. Going up is pretty straightforward and overall safe, still I advise to give great attention anytime to where you are placing your feet. There are frequent cliffs on the side of the path, while in the scrambling sections many rocks are unstable or are very smooth from the frequent walking and might be tricky when wet. A mystic experience immersed in beautiful nature.
