Parked just of Grange Road by Hapuku River then walked up the river to Barretts Bivouac for the night. From there walked back down the river and climbed to Surveyor Spur via Stace Saddle. continued up surveyor spur before sidling across to dip between Surveyor Peak and Manakau. Continued up ridge to Manakau. Returned via same route. Camped at rough campsite at around 1940m elevation.
