Arrive before 8 a.m. Sunny with no wind and about 20 degrees. Not enough snow for snowshoes with lots of bare ground on road above parking area. Put on micro spikes just in case. At point where red blazed trail departs the road and into the woods, snow was a little deeper but with a well frozen crust. No potholing to speak of except through a couple of hemlock groves where the sun couldn't reach the trail. All water crossings were running well but all were an easy step over or rock hop. Last 0.3 miles below the summit was steeper and the snow melt had refrozen making for long stretches of ice. Could probably walk around but micro spikes allowed easy climb. At summit, was hit by a snow squall and wind picked up so headed back down via the truck road. No snowmobiles due to large patches of bare dirt on the road. Actually saw absolutely nobody all morning.
