It was my birthday this weekend, so I went out to camp in my beloved Muddies & do lots of hiking. I had gone out with no specific plan & decided to just go where my eyes & feet led me. I started out in an incredibly colorful wash to the south of Boba Fett which led to the bottom of the peak. I decided to climb up to a large arch I could see on the west flank of the peak & from there continued west up a steep class 3 route through conglomerate cliffs to the summit. That was the hardest part of the hike. From Boba Fett, I could see Leia Peak across the valley & decided to head over there & do a loop back to the Jeep. On the way to Leia, I could see Tatooine Peak sitting behind it, so made the detour to visit that one as well. All three of these summits had old survey cairns on top (Boba Fett actually had 3). Made my way back & found a really pretty camp spot. From there, I decided to climb Birthday Cake Peak, but I'll log that one separately. This area is completely ignored by hikers, but I love it. Very pretty area. ***Note: This area is accessed via the West End Wash Road which has extreme deep, loose gravel right now because of the lack of rain. I've seen two separate groups very stuck in the gravel in the past few weeks. One group was in a beefy 4WD SUV. Make sure you have high clearance, 4WD & know how to drive in gravel to access this area.
