Leading Waymark party based at Pralognan. From Pralognan walked along Sentier Nanette and ascended Pas de l' Ane. We walked on a footpath to point 2418m. From there climbed to the summit of le Petit Marchet. The route goes to the right to avoid summit rocks and then back left. Three, including me, proceeded to a second summit to the NW, slightly lower, which involved a rocky scramble. We returned the same way to point 2418m. From there we followed a footpath, not shown on the map, which passes over col to SE of le Petit Marchet and which takes one into the Cirque du Grand Marchet. There was quite a lot of névé on the descent into the cirque, but it was not difficult. We joined the map path to descend Pas de l' Ane back to Pralognan. The weather was good, apart from a little rain on the descent.
