I followed an old trail from the back of Paliku cabin to the rim of the crater. The first mile was a bushy nightmare. It was a very narrow trail through the bush, not too easy to navigate (I got lost one time). Following the blue ribbons helped. After reaching 7500 feet the route is much better. Reaching the rim I was able to get to the top of another 8000-footer peak Lau’ulu and from there another 20-minute traverse took me to Pohakupalaha. There is some kind of small weather station on the top fenced up. I hiked up to the highest point which had some equipment.
