Discovery Bay - Sunny Bay, Lantau peak bagging on a fine, warm sunny day.

Start - Disco Bay ferry pier (sailings here depart Central pier 3 at 10&40 past the hour)
Finish - Sunny Bay MTR station

From the beach I went up the stepped path to Parkvale Drive. At Woodland Court a signposted trail climbed up to a pavilion at Lookout point. Above at pt228m, gained via the School Steps, I encountered the first of six trig points today. Cut steeply down a narrow rough trail to regain the main path - the Tiger Head Trail - which led up Lo Fu Tau, the day’s high point.

The Lo Fu Tau summit area attracts mountain bikers http://www.arounddb.com/best-of-lantau-articles/rough-riding-explore-lantaus-mountain-trails-on-two-wheels/ and was nearly remodelled by a 747 freighter in 2017.. http://avherald.com/h?article=4aede2af&opt=0

My next target - minor peak Wo Sheung Tung - took a little finding, being unnamed on source HKSARG maps and incorrectly located on others. Explored the various bumps on the plateau and concluded the one furthest and about 450m from Lo Fu Tau must be it since the GPS elevations of other candidates fell well short. A faint Trail with a few ribbons went up through the brush to the summit with a tiny cairn just slightly lower than Lo Fu Tau.

Nice easy trails (though bits may be slippery if wet) then went all the way to Tai Shan except for short sidetracks to three off-trail peaks:
Lau Fa Tung 378m had an obvious short steep path on it’s south flank.
Tai Che Tung 303m, off to the east of the trail, was harder on a faint ribboned path through head height vegetation. NB Tai Che Tung also has a trig point, some way beyond the actual summit.
Lai Pik Shan summit/trig point 263m, though barely 100m west off-trail was difficult to reach due vegetation. There was no ribboned trail and no sign of anyone else visiting recently. Some trail blazing machete work is urgently needed or this peak will soon be inaccessible.

After Tai Shan the trail narrowed and dropped down to an open gate by a pump station. Went right, then left underneath Penny’s Bay highway. Lastly steps went down to a pedestrian tunnel enabling access to Sunny Bay MTR station, located on the far side of the N Lantau highway.
