I did my usual trail run to Maclears Beacon from Constantia Nek but I decided that I would explore a little on the way down and visit a few peaks. One of which is Klaassenskop (Currently named Point 2362ft/72m) Like many Peaks in my area this peak is actually a little higher than that and has not been logged by any members on Peakery (looks like I'm going to be submitting quite a few edits in the future).

You can summit Klassenskop the easy way from De Villiers Dam if you simply take the jeep track or bridal path up from Constantia Nek. If you are feeling more adventurous (and you ought to, I'll explain soon) then you can hike up the first section of stairs on the Bridal Path until you meet up with the jeep track again, then follow it in a southerly direction as if you are going to Eagles Nest (a great lookout point over Hout Bay). The short singletrack at the end of the jeep track splits on top of a small saddle. A left turn takes you to Eagles nest but the path to the right will take you up to the top of the mountain from where you will be able to summit some of its many peaks. One such peak is Klaassenskop.

Anyone wishing to summit Klaassenskop would need to be a little adventurous as the peak is a off the main path, which is also a little overgrown at times. There are quite a few interesting rock formations on top of the peak which you will need to cross on your way to the highest point. Crossing these formations also requires you to jump a few gaps, none are wider than about 5 feet. The last gap is a little more difficult as the gap is higher and wider than any of those preceding it. There is however a tree growing in the middle of the gap. Its branches are strong enough to climb through and take you onto the highest point of the peak. There you will find beautiful views of the Orange Kloof restricted area as well as Hout Bay.
