Morocco. Our plan was to do the Toubkal Circuit. We crossed the Tamatert pass and went to Tacheddirt where it started to pour. We hid in a smelly, mud hut outside the village. We have to turn around the next day just before the dry Likemt pass because of lack of water. We get a lucky hitchhike back to Imlil. The next day we climb to Sidi Chamarouch where we are stopped by police. We need a guide to climb Toubkal because two Scandinavian girls got murdered a couple of months ago. Luckily we can join a group of 4 Polish people and Omar, our guide. We climb through a magnificent gorge and make it to the refuges. We put our tent next to Les Mouflons. We do not sleep well because the mules keep walking around all night. We wake up at 5 and start climbing. When it starts to clear we go first and push on. We were getting cold because of a strong wind. After a short scramble it's only a hard walk up. Because of the Likemt pass we feel adapted to the height and we can enjoy the climb. We make it to the top at about 9 o'clock. The landscape is rugged and arid. We cross a lot of people on the way down. We go slow on the last part through the boulderfield before the refuges. We clean up the tent, wait for Omar and go down. We go ahead and get to Imlil where we have a very tasty and well-deserved tajine.
