"3rd Japanese ultra and highest point in Shikoku. Took the cable car about halfway up the mountain but there was still a lot to climb. From there the trail goes up to a town, then down into a forested valley before finally going up the mountain. On the way up we decided to use the chains which were very fun to use. Unfortunately, when we got to the top it was extremely cloudy so no views, but I was surprised to see a temple so high up, and got a Goshuin for my effort. We rushed back down and made it about 20 minutes before the last cable car. A very enjoyable hike with just the right difficulty." — Hiyouboots • Sep 3, 2025

"This was a beautiful hike. I was worried it would be difficult to get to without a car but the bus from Iyo-Saijo to the ropeway was easy to use. Since I was traveling the best shoes I had were sandals which made the chain sections a bit challenging but it all turned out fine. It was definitely worth doing the last little ridge scramble out to the real summit, it's not as hard as it looks at first. I was jealous of the many of my fellow hikers who brought stoves and instant ramen to eat at the top." — kbrack • Nov 11, 2023
