Added for context. This trip was in 2010, before these peaks had names CP (the guidebook author) wanted some place obscure. We came through the road toward Timber Springs, which back then, was pretty awful for a mile where it wound through washes full of gravel and low conifers. No cairn or register back then, no evidence of previous visitation. I think the spot check elevations were purely from aerial photogrammetry. The later-named "Independence Peak" has at most 160' of prominence. The interconnecting ridge is rough and wild.
