Day 3 of a stay nr Santon Bridge. From here, we walked up through the forest tracks, to the summit of Irton Pike. From Irton Pike, we ascended to the summit of Irton Fell and then up past Greathall Gill to the summit of Whin Rigg. From here we continued up the ridge to Illgill Head. Here there are 2 summits. Great views of all of the Wasdale peaks, including Scafell & Great Gable from the summits and plenty of views down the screes to Wastwater from the path along the escarpment. We returned by the same route, missing out Irton Pike
