This peak was climbed as part of a traverse of "The Dodds" group of hills, taking in the main summits of Great Dodd 2807ft and Stybarrow Dodd 2770ft. Hart Side was the penultimate summit in the traverse. There is evidence of old mine works on the summit, with a trench having been dug many years ago to extract minerals.
