There was a thin layer of snow with made the immediate ascent of Hancock Hill slick and difficult (though this was mostly due to my inappropriate footwear of old sneaker). It was cold at a high of 21 degrees F, but clear, windless and beautiful. A few songbirds crossed my path, but no other wildlife to speak of.
