Parking is on Libby rd in Effingham (dirt road). Turn off of Town house rd, onto libby rd, drive up the road for a small distance, you will arrive at a large metal gate on the left. You can clearly tell that this gate is the trailhead. park off the road, so that people may be able to still pass by. follow the path through the gate and past a camp house on the left. the climb has a good stretch of steepness, probably 25 minutes worth of constant uphill on a rocky path. as long as you continue to follow the trail, you will arrive at the fork, go to the right for the fire tower top of green mountain, or to the left for hanson top.
at first the mountain seems somewhat plain and boring, but once you get near the top, it is as if you have stepped into another world, absolutely beautiful. there is a pretty decent fire tower, quite a few flights of stairs, not very easy to climb them all after hiking all the way up there. unfortunately when I went, it was a very foggy day, and I could not see any view.
