A sunny weather forecast tempted us back to the Lake District for a couple of days walking. We parked at High Row, walked up past the woodland and up onto Matterdale Common and up to the subsidiary peak of Randerside. We had a brief stop here at 2300ft this peak is dwarfed by its lofty neighbour Great Dodd, the walking is quite easy on these grassy hills. On the summit, we enjoyed good views around the Lake District peaks. We then continued on our horseshoe walk of several peaks, Watsons Dodd, Stybarrow Dodd, White Stones, Hart Crag and Birkett Fell, before dropping steeply into the valley at Dowthwaite Head and walking a mile back up a country road to our start point.
