First peak of 2021, and my first peak since contracting Covid-19! I'm on the mend, thank goodness, and happy to be getting back out in the mountains. The original goal was to do all three peaks in the area (Golf View/Leaning Arch/Easter Island), but neither of us were feeling 100% after the slog up Golf View. We took the mountain biking trails out and around before hopping off the trail to sidehill up toward the peak. In a word: steep! Very steep. Loose rock, not as crumbly as some, but not terribly stable, either. Picked our way through bighorn sheep trails and tried to stick as close to big, solid(ish) rocks as possible. Gorgeous view from Golf View Peak - this was the first time I'd ever actually *seen* the golf course (I've driven past it and ridden past it on my bike many times, but had never seen the golf course). There were bighorn sheep watching us on the descent from Golf View to the saddle with Leaning Arch peak. We found the Leaning Arch, too! It was very pretty - can't believe I hadn't ever noticed it before. A good day, and we have a plan to come back and get the other two peaks when we're both feeling better. Regardless, a good day to be out in the desert, and I'm so glad to be able to summit peaks again. One step at a time - looking to work my way back up to bigger peaks!
