With my son, James. From Garbat we went along a forest track to NH421694, where the track ends. Hence by break in forestry (faint path) across moorland to Meallan Don, shoulder of Carn Gorm and up stalkers’ path to Tom a’ Chòinnich, and then to Glas Leathad Beag and Fiaclach*. We returned to the N of Glas Leathad Beag and to the S of Tom a’ Chòinnich to Glas Leathad Mor (highest point of Ben Wyvis) (trig point in shelter). We went on to An Cabar. Descent was straight down to break in forest leading to track starting at NH422678 which took us back to the car. Initially it was warm, becoming cold. Continuous slight snow/hail falling on summit areas. Snow patches above 800m. Good views in all directions. *Subsequently the name of this top was changed to Meall nan Bradan Leathan.
