The most challenging part of this trip is finding the trailhead via a series of isolated FSRs and then finding the way out to Canal Flats via a different route as the Kootenay Bypass FSR is a one way single track road. In spite of those challenges and over 1350m of elevation gain (80% forested), the last final bit to the summit and summit ridge provide 360 degree mountain views into a remote area that is difficult to access without a decent clearance vehicle. The lookout itself appears to be rarely visited now, even by an Observer, and the challenges to get there mean even fewer people make it up to the top now.
