We wanted something a little different today, so Laszlo & I headed towards Searchlight, NV to knock out a few 'quickies' out that way. After doing Morning Glory Mountain & Light Benchmark, we drove down Cottonwood Road and took a series of dirt roads to the closest access I could see to 4th of July Mountain. Note to future hikers - DO NOT APPROACH FROM THE WEST!!! The property owner was extremely mad to see people on his property and though we might be stealing mining equipment or taking minerals from his land. He calmed down after we explained that we were hiking and enjoying the land, but it is better not to put yourself in a bad position. You might have better luck approaching from the East instead.
