Day 3 of a trip to the Yorkshire Dales. We were lucky with unusually warm and clear weather for March. Today we did a walk up onto Fountains Fell which took in its 3 summits and we also walked out onto the outlying hill - Darnbrook Fell. The tops of these hills have many old mine shafts, some of which are open and some covered, so care is needed, if walking in mist. The walk started from Silverdale Rd between Ribblesdale and LittonDale and followed the route of the Pennine Way up onto the summit plateau and then onto the summits. Here we enjoyed good views of nearby hills, including Pen-y-Ghent.
