From accommodation at Maes-y-pandy Farm. Solo. Used track, which is a public right of way, from SH698086 to ascend gradually through forest. Then on grassy track for part of the way to the summit of Foel Ddu. Sole of one walking shoe broke away completely from the rest of the shoe at one point on ascent. Tied the two parts together with the shoe lace for the rest of the ascent. Returned same way and abandoned attempt on other summits.
