3/9/2019 Backpacked up the Eureka Peak Trail, a sandy wash and sometimes a slot canyon, to a point a little more than 1 mile below the peak and set up camp. Then hiked up a sometimes steep grade to the peak. Excellent views made it worth the hike! Returned to camp in windy 37 degrees weather. Backpacked out the next morning via the Burnt Hill Trail, which yielded more scenic views than the Eureka Peak Trail.

Obstacles

The trail climbed the hillsides several times to get around downed Joshua Trees

Key gear

A good shell and insulation.
