This was a beautiful 20 mile out-n-back hike/run along Gold Camp Road (a former train route). Other than a short bypass around Tunnel #3 (gated) this is 100% uphill going out which made for an easy run back to the car. There are amazing views all along the way of the surrounding mountains as well as Colorado Springs. Tunnels #4 & #5 are intact and offer very scenic photos at each end. Immediately after passing through Tunnel #4, look below to your left to see an abandoned car wreck. Tunnel #6 has a partial collapse but is still passable although you can bypass it by following Old Stage Rd (dirt) for the final mile climb to Eagles Nest. I have been told there is a Tunnel #7; however, I did not see it as Old Stage Rd bypasses this section. There are a couple streams along the way if you need to refill bottles. There are also many unmarked side trails if you need more adventure. Enjoy!
