Five members of Hikers Anonymous was joined by Christy for a hike of Doubletop on a lovely day. The PA was basically all ice but fortunately the trail was still mostly snow. The depth and consistency has changed over the last couple of days and nights do to the abnormally warm temps. We wore snowshoes all day so to preserve the current packed trail and track and not put any more divots into it. Nice easy whack following old tracks and making some new ones for efficiency. We enjoyed the nice view down into the valley and over toward Margretville area. The day felt more like early spring than early February especially when the clouds drifted away to reveal a bright sun. When we got back down to the black bear and trail we were treated to a sighting of a small Fisher or Mink scampering up the slope on the other side of Dry Brook. It was still fairly early in the afternoon so I drove over to the Rider Hollow PA for a quick hike to Balsam while the others headed home after a wonderful day doing a “onesie”.
