HP of the Goldfield Mountains. Clearly underrated little range for its hiking opportunities despite being adjacent to Metro Phoenix. I parked at the gate at the end of Cactus Rd in Apache Junction. The gate was open but I didn't have a permit or an 4WD vehicle to get closer to the Trailhead.
I followed the main dirt road for a little while, then veered right on a smaller road that leads to the trailhead, a large dirt parking area.
I took a double-track trail trending North to the point where a large cairn marks a use trail taking off on the right, right before the main trail dips in a canyon.
From there the trail is sometimes faint but regularly marked by cairns and white paint. Route finding is minor.
The views from the rounded summit are really nice.
