Got sidetracked from the beginning, didn't realize the trail hooked to the left after to dam on lower blue lake. Then as I was getting close to Deadwood I kept going west thinking the big granite block was deadwood, had to backtrack a bit then went up the southside to the saddle and over to the north highpoint looking into the canyon. Stopped and had lunch there. Storms started brewing over to the east with lots of thunder and lightning. I was kind of right on the edge of it, only got a little sprinkle. Headed back up to get deadwood. Storm stated getting closer and it was already 430 so i started heading out along the ridgeline for a bit. The view down into devils coral was spectacular. My hip was hurting pretty well by this point but I hobbled back down to the tail below and made it back to the truck about 7. I was so happy to see my truck again. Sunset was just starting as I drove off and it just kept getting better and better as I drove down blue lakes rd.
