A Short Easter trip to Braemar. In the last week, the daytime temperature had dropped 20c and there had been 6ins of snow, earlier in the week, followed by heavy rain, which had washed alot of it away. We set off on a cool cloudy day, from Glen Clunie, along "Jocks" road, an old drove road through Glen Callater to Glen Doll. After about a mile we left this track and ascended steeply via a stalkers path to Sron Dubh, 584m, the northern summit on the ridge. Then we ascended the broad ridge, over Sron nan Gabhar729m, onto the summit of Creag nan Gabhar. We enjoyed good views down into Glen Callater and Loch Callater and up to the Glenshee hills of Glas Maol and Carn Aosda, also seeing a large herd of red deer on the ridge.
