I have been exploring some peaks in the Spring Mountains this week for one main reason, and that was to get prepared to climb Charleston Peak. I had planned to climb it many times before, but it never happened. Now this peak is no longer on the back-burner. Climbing it is quite an undertaking. I planned accordingly and also acclimatized earlier in the week, but to actually do the hike is another matter. This is one of the longer hikes I have done and fortunately it went off without a hitch, at least with regards to Charleston Peak. I was too tired to also include Griffith Peak on the day, even as I viewed it nearby and saw the clear trail going up its side. If I ever do it, it will have to be at some other time. Similar to the other Spring Mountain hikes this week, I took a leisurely pace going up and concentrated on pictures (and of course catching my breath). Las Vegas has some nice mountains and trails and I was glad to be able to experience a little bit of what various Peakery members get to enjoy in their own backyard.
