"May 28, 2023. Solid boot pack on the snow. Used microspikes, gaiters, and one pole. Only post holed a couple of times. Near the summit it is a little tricky to get down from the snow bank. I kicked in steps and slid the rest of the way down and kicked in steps on the way back up." — runningvegan • May 28, 2023
"Took off from our backcountry camp site in Yellowstone at the edge of a serene meadow. On up open slopes on SE ridge through grass and scree to rocky ridgeline. Some key routefinding to do up higher to avoid unnecessary exposure, but a straighforward scramble for the most part up the ridge. Topped out to a glorious view and clear skies, although smoke to the south with the fire season in full swing. T. Bain and I had been eyeing this one for several years -- great way to spend Labor Day weekend." — MarmotHead • Sep 6, 2020
"Fair amount of snow still left to hike through. Hit by a fast moving storm with lightning and hail. Had to hunker down off the side of a ridge for about 25 minutes before hitting the summit." — KevinAB • Jun 22, 2014
"Stayed 2 nights at Heart Lake. Great bachcountry experience with our own thermal area and rustic geyser erupting just for us! In fact, the haze on the summit photo is exhaust from an eruption.
Saw a young grizzly on the way down. Luckily, the bear took little notice of us." — ArminR • Aug 13, 2013
"Made this a loop, hoping to hook up with Osprey Falls on the east side. Never found the turnoff so just meandered around the mountain through new growth pines back to the trailhead. A good hike, although I wouldn't recommend the loop." — Christopher • Aug 3, 2012
