"Scouting mish hike up Munt Pers to check out the Biancograt on Piz Bernina. Planning to climb it this week if everything comes together with weather etc. Staggeringly huge, gonna be tough. " — scott • Jul 3, 2023
"Headed up from village of Champfer following a creek on pleasant wooded trails. Once above treeline it was a big slog up to the bivouac hut. At the hut/shack, I was nearly spent but after seeing a few spots of blue sky, decided to go for it. The route up Piz Julier’s airy ridge is really long, but def a classic. Reminded me of the long ridge of Capitol Peak in some ways. Didn’t bring enough food & water and started bonking on the long way down, textbook mistake. Idiot. " — scott • Jul 2, 2023
"First day exploring. Loop hike from village of Pontresina. Made it to Alp Languard 10 seconds after first people got of the chairlift. Waited on the summit for a bit, but Piz Languard never made it out of the clouds, so went down and had lunch at the Georgy hut. On way down found myself going the same direction as the Bernina Ultraks trail race, so ended up running along with them. Then decided to add a bit more with climb of Las Sours. A well marked trail ends abruptly on the west peak. Then it was a long way back down, with more running down the Ultraks course, these guys were running all day (42k, 2600m vert). "With HF party based at Pontresina. We took the chair lift to Alp Languard and went along path to Val Languard and on to Piz Languard - easy path with easy scrambling near top. I took the ridge SE of Piz Languard to Fuorcla Pischa over Languard Pitschen, Crasta Languard, and Muot da la Pischa. It was interesting. The most difficult part was between Languard Pitschen and Crasta Languard where some bits of the crest had to be avoided. Even going below the crest involved some grade II climbing. I saw ~20 ibex on NE side and 2 at 20 yards on the highest point of the ridge. The others took the path to the SW of the ridge. We continued on a path through barren country, to a steep drop into Heutal. We had tea at Bernina Haüser and returned to Pontresina by train." — peter43 • Aug 28, 1962
