Day 3 of short break in The Lake District. A very hot day, decided on a shorter walk, to try to break in new boots on 1st hill walk after previous easy walks at home. From Uzzicar in the Newlands valley, we walked up the old mines track which runs alongside Stoneycroft Gill. This route chosen over direct route for easier gradient but slightly longer walk for new boots. The track ascends steadily W then SW to High Moss by the smaller peak of Outerside, then a small path ascends SE to the ridge close to the summit. Here there were good views around the Lake District. From the summit, we retraced our steps for 300m, then continued over the summit of Scar Crags 675m and dropped down to the top of Sail Pass. Here we turned NE and descended to our inward track to return to the start point. The new boots proved uncomfortable and skinned my feet in places, possibly because of the 30c temperature! Will try them again!
