Went with friends to Calpine lookout for an overnight snowshoeing trip. Alas, We missed the snow by about a week, but had an excellent time. Began our hike from the Calpine Rd gate to the summit. Round trip distance was 2.52 miles with 603 feet of elevation gain. The Calpine Lookout is rented for $40 a night and you shouldn’t hike up unless you have reserved it.
